The Duchess of Cambridge has been given a royal welcome to Copenhagen as she met Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary during day two of her visit to Denmarl.
As the meeting got under way at the Amalienborg Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared congratulations with Margrethe II for her Golden Jubilee. The Danish Queen marked fifty years of rule in January 2022.
In a message released on social media, William and Kate said ”Joining The Queen of Denmark and The Crown Princess to celebrate a Jubilee year for both the United Kingdom and Denmark – a Golden Jubilee here in Denmark, and Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee back in the UK.”
After the meeting, the Duchess joined Crown Princess Mary for lunch before afternoon engagements.
The meeting at Amalienborg came after a busy morning for the Duchess. She headed to Stenurten Forest Kindergarten for a session on understanding support mechanisms for children’s mental health and wellbeing. The kindergarten gets children out and about to help them build self-awareness and create stronger relationships with others as well as grasp their own place in society.
The first day of her trip to Denmark, her first overseas visit since before the pandemic, saw Kate meet a range of organisations working to understand the very earliest stages of childhood development. The Duchess of Cambridge visited the University of Copenhagen where she met researchers from the world renowned Infant Mental Health Project. She also spent time at the LEGO Foundation Funlab where she heard about the impact of the Playful Learning Programme which focuses on creative and experimental attitudes to learning.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s two day visit to Denmark is designed to enhance and highlight the work of her Royal Foundation Centre of Early Childhood.
