The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have sent a message of support to the people of Ukraine as they ”bravely” fight against Russian oppression.
Taking to Twitter, the couple posted a message to their official Kensington Palace account.
They said: ”In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future.
“Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future.”
The royal couple signed off their tweet with an emoji of the Ukrainian flag, and their initials, ’W & C’.
President Zelenskyy met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace during a two-day visit to the United Kingdom in 2020.
During their meeting, the President extended an invitation to William & Catherine to visit his country at some point in the future.
