Kensington Palace has announced that the Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labour and has been admitted into the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital.
The media will now be allowed to take their places outside the Lindo Wing as everyone waits with baited breath to hear the announcement of a new little prince or princess.
Her Majesty The Queen will be the first to be notified of the birth. From there, an easel will be placed outside the gates at Buckingham Palace with the birth announcement and for the modern 21-century touch, the news will also be tweeted out.
As babies have a schedule of their own, there is no saying how long the Duchess will be in labour for. With the birth of Princess Charlotte, the Duchess was in the hospital for less than 24 hours.
It is likely that Prince William will jet home after the Duchess and baby are settled to bring back Prince George and Princess Charlotte so they may meet their new brother or sister.
Other family members expected to drop in would be Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the hospital when Prince George was born but did not make it for Princess Charlotte’s birth as he was at his personal residence of Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
