Prince & Princess of Wales

Did a big smile just give away Prince George’s favourite football team?

Prince William and Prince George took advantage of the school break and a good football schedule to make a father/ son trip to Paris!

The Prince of Wales took his eldest son to see Aston Villa play Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final. They were joined by William’s friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, at the Parc des Princes stadium for the match.

Just before the match, Prince William joined former footballers Ally McCoist and Rio Ferdinand, former English footballer for an interview for for TNT Sports.

When asked if he was nervous ahead of the game, William shared ”I am pretty nervous. It’s been a long time coming, so it’s a big game. It’s been 43 years since the last time this happened… I’m nervous but I’m also confident, I’m excited…. I’m wearing all my lucky clothes and pieces, I’ve got all my routines hoping that it’s going to bring some luck tonight.

And he was asked whether he was the only prince in the stadium whose heart belonged to Villa. William replied that his three children ”come to games with Villa. They’re going to probably support Villa, but I’ve left the other two at home, probably watching tonight, so we’ll wait and see who they support.”

However, when Villa put the ball in the back of the net, it wasn’t just Prince William who was jumping for joy. Prince George looked delighted – it seems dad might have got his wish, after all.

The two were focused fans with serious expressions throughout the match. Unfortunately, the odds were not in their favour as Villa ended up losing the first leg to PSG with a final score of 3-1 meaning they’ll need a strong performance at Villa Park for the return game. All eyes will be on the stands to see if confirmed fan, Prince William, and possible new Villa fanatic, Prince George, are there, too.
