The Duchess of Cambridge and The Princess Royal have teamed up for their first joint engagement as they learned more about ways to improve maternal health.
Their Royal Highnesses visited the new London headquarters of the Royal College of Midwives and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, of which both women are respective patrons.
During the visit, the Duchess, who is a mother of three, and The Princess Royal, a mother of two, heard how the two colleges are working together to improve maternal healthcare. They also spoke to experts about how women can be assured they are receiving the safest and best care possible.
Their Royal Highnesses took part in a discussion with new mothers and experts about how the inequalities in maternity care are being tackled. They were also shown some of the work being done to improve essential gynaecological skills both locally, and worldwide.
During the visit, Kate and Anne also met with representatives from Tommy’s National Centre for Maternity Improvement and key health teams of the Avoiding Brain Injury in Childbirth (ABC) collaboration.
The RCM and RCOG have waited over two years to officially open their new headquarters because of the global health crisis.
