Royal visit to Canada includes stop in Charlottetown, Cornwall and Bonshaw

<![CDATA[As reported by Royal Central last week, the itinerary for the Royal tour of Canada has been released and includes details of the visits The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will undertake on their Royal visit.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Charlottetown, Cornwall and Bonshaw on their Royal Tour.

The Prince and Duchess will visit Prince Edward Island on May 19th and 20th. They will fly into Charlottetown Airport on Victoria Day, Monday, 19 May arriving at 6:05 p.m. ADT. The couple will only be in the area for 24 hours and plan on stops in Charlottetown, Cornwall and Bonshaw.
Greeting Charles and Camilla upon their arrival will be Lt.-Gov. Frank Lewis, Premier Robert Ghiz and Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee.
“Prince Edward Island is delighted to be included in this historic tour during 2014 as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference. The Royal Tour is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the history, natural beauty, vibrant culture and people of our province,” Premier Robert Ghiz commented.
After a short stop in Fanningbank, they will set off for Charlottetown where they will arrive at 8:05 p.m. to attend an outdoor concert and fireworks display at Province House. The Royal couple will then return to Government House at 9:15 p.m.
On Tuesday, 20 May at 10 a.m. Charles and his wife will return to Province House to enjoy some of the Prince Edward Island youth participate in the annual youth parliament. The youth parliament is comprised of students from across PEI and will join in debating the issues the province currently faces and well as some from 150 when the Fathers of Confederation first gathered.
Charles and Camilla will have a walkabout before and after their visit to Province House in order to meet those gathered to see them.
Carol Bertram, Speaker of the Prince Edward Island legislature will present the couple with a gift before they depart for the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
Charles is to receive the Symons Medal whilst at the centre which is awarded as part of the Symons lecture series. He will deliver the second of four speeches planned for this visit.
After the ceremony the Prince and Duchess will partake in a tour of the centre. When finished they will move on to separate visits.
Camilla will visit the Prince Edward Home whilst Charles will go to Holland College to view the sustainable urban development program. Charles an ardent supporter of sustainable living is said to be keen in seeing the college’s heritage retrofit programme.
Charles will then travel back to Fanningback where he will meet with the Canadian Institute of Forestry. As reported in Royal Central this past September, The Prince is very involved with the CIF. He began the first Prince of Wales Award for Sustainable Forestry that was awarded on 16 September 2013.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will together visit their namesake town at 2 p.m. Whilst in Cornwall; they will stop at the Cornwall United Church to attend a salute to senior’s event.
They will again go their spate ways with the Duke will dedicate a walking trail in his name at the new Bonshaw Provincial Park. He will also meet with some of the Commonwealth Games athletes who are preparing for the Glasgow held event this summer.
The Duchess will head back to Charlottetown to stop at Immanuel Christian School to meet with students and attend a theatrical presentation.
The couple will leave PEI via Charlottetown Airport at 4:15 p.m. and head to Winnipeg Manitoba.
