The Queen to celebrate her 92nd birthday with a star studded concert

It is unusual that Queen Elizabeth celebrates her birthday on the actual day she was born. Typically, the monarch waits until Trooping the Colour celebrations in June.

However, it isn’t every year that the leaders of the Commonwealth Nations will be in London wrapping up the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM) and so the BBC is throwing Her Majesty a 92nd birthday concert.

On 21 April, the Royal Albert Hall will play host to the star-studded event hosted by BBC One and BBC Radio 2. Confirmed guests so far include Craig David, Kylie Minogue, Sir Tom Jones, Shawn Mendes, Anne Marie, Sting, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Even Shaggy is set to perform, who has recently been making a comeback including his impression of Donald Trump on James Corden’s The Late Late Show.

Other members of the Royal Family will also be alongside The Queen celebrating her birthday. No doubt the perfect way to let off some steam from a busy week of CHOGM.

The Queen’s Birthday Party will be aired on BBC One and BBC Radio Two at 8pm on Saturday 21st April. Royal Central will also be live tweeting coverage of the event.
