This Week in Royal Fashion: Buckingham Palace Garden Party and Crown Princess Victoria at the ALMA Prize

The garden party season is coming to an end, but we were treated with another afternoon of spring fashion on Wednesday, plus Crown Princess Victoria took a favourite dress for an outing at the ALMA Prize ceremony in Stockholm. Let’s take a look at the fashion details:

Buckingham Palace garden party

The Queen always looks stunning in pink, and the pastel candy pink shade she chose for the last garden party at Buckingham Palace this year brought some brightness to a rainy day.

She paired the dress with a matching pink floral-print dress and a gorgeous hat topped with sprigs of pink-and-white berries and a curled white ribbon. This just might be my favourite hat she’s worn this year. She added her diamond lily brooch which, according to The Court Jeweller, was given to the then-Princess Elizabeth by the City of London in the 1940s.

Princess Beatrice wowed in a floral frock by celeb-favourite brand The Vampire’s Wife, wearing their ‘Veneration floral-print silk-charmeuse midi dress.’

It’s made from “Liberty floral-print silk charmeuse with charming puffed sleeves trimmed with ruffles – note the feminine bow accents – that are echoed at the tiered hem,” per the Matches Fashion website where you can purchase it for £1,525.

Beatrice paired her dress with a very affordable high-street straw bag from Zara, their ‘woven city bag,’ and a burgundy leaf-design headband by Laura Cathcart – the ‘Tess’ style, per Replicate Royalty.

Her sister Princess Eugenie wore a simple but lovely cream/beige coloured Sandro dress for the garden party.

The ‘pleated short sleeve crepe dress’ is described on the Selfridges site as such:

“A simple V-neck, short-sleeved top meets a pleated skirt at your waist, so the label has pieced together an outfit for you. All that’s missing? A couple of gold chains glittering at the V-neck and a pair of suede heels below the pleated skirt.”

I’m rarely a fan of this colour, but the shade actually works on Eugenie, the wrap style is very flattering on her, and the floaty pleated skirt is perfect for late spring. Plus, like Princess Beatrice, she wore a lovely headpiece.

Eugenie’s ‘Veil and Feather Helena headband’ is by Maggie Mowbray, per Replicate Royalty, and features small feathers that are reminiscent of Swan Lake and a veil that can be worn either over your face or tucked underneath the piece. Eugenie chose not to wear the veil, which makes sense for the occasion.

Crown Princess Victoria at the ALMA Awards

The heir to the Swedish throne looked funky and fun in shades of blue at the annual ALMA Prize ceremony on the 27th.

Crown Princess Victoria wore the Zadig et Voltaire Roma Lurex Dress she’s worn on three previous occasions. The silk dress features lurex details, and I love the 1970s-style print – very Pucci-esque, no? Part of the design looks like fish scales, which feels perfect for the impending summer months.

She accessorised with a blue Quidam clutch, Rizzo Azelia pumps, a delicate Dulong Luna necklace, and Maria Nilsdotter Cherry Valley earrings, per The Royals and I. Victoria can pull off some bold prints that others might not be able to, and I absolutely adore her vintage-inspired style.

We’ll be back with the outfit details from the U.S. State Visit next week and other royal fashion favourites.
