The Royal Family will take part in a series of acts of remembrance in the coming days for those who have given their lives for their country.
Queen Camilla is attending the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey where crosses bearing poppies are planted for those who have died in conflict. For the first time, the cypher of Her Majesty will be used publicly – it is on the cross that Queen Camilla is placing as a tribute.
On November 11th 2022, Armistice Day, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will attend the National Memorial Arboretum Service in Staffordshire.
The Festival of Remembrance takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on November 12th 2022. King Charles III and Queen Camilla will lead the Royal Family at this tribute. They will be accompanied by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence as well as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
On Remembrance Sunday, November 13th 2022, His Majesty will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the nation. The wreath will be based on those used by his grandfather, King George VI, and his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. A wreath will be laid for the first time on behalf of Queen Camilla. The Prince of Wales will also lay a floral tribute bearing the feathers of the Prince of Wales.
Her Majesty will watch the service from the balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, overlooking Whitehall. With her will be the Princess of Wales. The Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will attend. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra will also be present.
The March Past of Veterans Organisations on Horse Guards Parade after the service at the Cenotaph will see the Earl of Wessex take the salute.
Armistice Day, November 11th, marks the anniversary of the end of World War One. Since the reign of King George V, a national act of remembrance has taken place at this time.
