The Queen celebrates her 96th birthday with a very special new photo

The Queen has marked her 96th birthday with a new photo celebrating one of her greatest passions.

Her Majesty, long known for her love of horse riding and racing, is shown with two of her fell ponies in a new image released by the Windsor Horse Show.

The Queen is seen standing alongside Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale at Windsor. The image was taken in March but shared as the Monarch turned 96 on April 21st 2022.

This new birthday portrait forms part of a series of royal images released by the Royal Windsor Horse Show marking other major milestones in The Queen’s reign including her Golden Jubilee and her 90th birthday.

Her Majesty is spending her birthday privately at Sandringham. She travelled to Wood Farm on the Norfolk estate the day before her celebrations and will pass the day at the home where Prince Philip spent the majority of his retirement.
