The glorious image of a smiling Queen Elizabeth II which has become a personal tribute from the Royal Family

The Royal Family has chosen a second photo of Queen Elizabeth II with which to remember her on the anniversary of her death.

On the morning of September 8th 2022, a year after she passed away, the official social media accounts shared a portrait with a poignant message which read ”In loving and everlasting memory. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 21st April 1926 – 8th September 2022.”

The photo chosen shows Her Late Majesty at Buckingham Palace. She is sitting on a sofa and smiling broadly at the camera.

It was the second special image of Elizabeth II released by the Royal Family to mark the first anniversary of her death. The other showed Her Late Majesty in her Order of the Garter robes and was taken in 1968 by Cecil Beaton. It was shared along with a special speech by King Charles III in which he paid tribute to his mother.

In his address, His Majesty said ”In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty’s death and my Accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.”

King Charles also said ”I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.”

Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8th 2022 at Balmoral Castle. King Charles III succeeded her immediately.
