If you’re hoping for a second glance at the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding dress, you may soon have the chance to do so: her Givenchy wedding dress is rumoured to go on display at Windsor Castle.
The Daily Express reports that a decision on whether Meghan’s wedding dress will be displayed by the end of the year will be reached soon.
A royal source who spoke to The Daily Express said that the decision has already been made, but others said that the details are yet to be finalised.
Windsor Castle was the venue of Meghan’s wedding on 19 May, when she married Prince Harry at St. George’s Chapel. Later this year, the Chapel will be the site of another royal wedding in October when Princess Eugenie marries Jack Brooksbank.
The display of royal wedding dresses is a tradition for the British Royal Family. The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress was displayed at Buckingham Palace as part of the summer exhibition in 2011 and raised a record amount of funds. Kate’s shoes, veil, tiara, and jewellery were included in the display.
The Queen’s wedding dress was displayed in 2016 to mark her 90th birthday with other important dresses worn during her life.
Meghan’s wedding dress was designed by Clare Waight Keller, the creative director of Givenchy. It featured an open bateau neckline, a slim waist, three-quarter sleeves, and a train that folded over a triple silk organza underskirt.
Should the rest of Meghan’s wedding ensemble go on display with the dress, Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau, Cartier earrings and a bracelet, and Givenchy-designed ivory duchesse satin shoes will accompany it. Including her magnificent veil, 16 feet in length, that featured hand embroidered designated flora representations of the 53 nations of the Commonwealth, the Wintersweet that grows outside Kensington Palace, and the California poppy.
