The Duchess of Sussex has begun her lifetime of public service and will attend her first official royal outing alongside The Queen.
The Duchess of Sussex, alongside Her Majesty, will visit Chesire on the 14th of June where they will open the Storyhouse theatre, which acts as a community centre, library, and cinema. The theatre, which used to be an Odeon cinema, underwent a two and a half year refurbishment at the cost of £37m.
During the visit to the theatre, they will meet performers as well as unveil a plaque to commemorate the theatres opening.
They will visit the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre, a museum that describes itself as “putting the fun in science.” As well as visit a new bridge between Runcorn and Widnes that opened in October.
A spokesperson for the family said they will also attend a lunch held at Chester Town Hall alongside local leaders and dignitaries.
Previously, the Duchess of Sussex toured the country with Prince Harry at the time leading up to their wedding. She has also, alongside Prince Harry, attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace. This event will be her first royal visit.
The Queen’s invitation for the Duchess to attend with her could be seen as a show of faith in the Duchess and a personal welcome into her new royal duties.
Speaking earlier in the year, Meghan Markle said that she wants to “hit the ground running” and it is clear she intends to do just that as she attends these three engagements alongside The Queen.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, alongside many of the other members of the Royal family, will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on June the 9th as they celebrate the Queen’s birthday during the Trooping the Colour.
