The Coronation countdown reaches major moment

It’s now just 100 days until the Coronation.

The countdown reached the milestone on January 26th 2023 with the Royal Family among the first to mark it.

A reminder of all the events planned for the Coronation celebration weekend was shared by royal accounts.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be crowned on May 6th 2023 at Westminster Abbey. Their Majesties will travel to the Abbey in the King’s Procession and return to Buckingham Palace in the Coronation Procession which will include other members of the Royal Family. A balcony appearance will follow.

The Coronation Big Lunch takes place on May 7th 2023. Street parties, celebrations and get togethers will be held across the UK as part of the annual Big Lunch which is run by the Eden Project in Cornwall. Queen Camilla is their patron. The Coronation Big Lunch is a chance for communities to come together and share food and celebrations as well as raise money for local charities.

On the evening of May 7th 2023, the Coronation Concert takes place at Windsor Castle. A public ballot for tickets launches soon. Some of the biggest names in entertainment will take part in the concert.

The evening will end with the illumination of landmarks around the UK, a modern take on the tradition of lighting beacons to mark major royal events.

A special Bank Holiday on May 8th 2023 to mark the Coronation will also be a chance to celebrate volunteers. The Big Help Out will see charities, organisations and individuals offer support to others while the contribution made by volunteers will also be marked. The day is also designed to pay tribute to King Charles III’s lifetime of service.

Royal Central will keep you up to date with all the latest news in the run up to the Coronation as well as special features on this very special royal event and its place in history.
