Prince Harry rallies support ahead of Invictus Games

<![CDATA[Prince Harry has called upon people to rally behind a new international sporting championship for inspirational injured servicemen and women. Harry has been working to bring the Invictus Games to London after seeing members of the British Armed Forces take part in the Warrior Games in the US last year.
On Monday, Prince Harry said: "Ultimately, this is about the men and women who have given so much and deserve our support. In September the public has their chance to show that support in the sporting arena, I know people will want to join me in cheering them on from the side lines. Their Invictus spirit will make for a great occasion".

Harry’s comments were supported by an Olympic torch bearer who trekked the North Pole with the Prince and spoke of Harry’s “indescribable passion” for helping wounded servicemen and women. Jaco Van Gass was serving with the Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan when he lost his left arm and part of his left leg in a Taliban explosion.
Van Gass is hoping to join more than 400 wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women from around the world who are expected to take part in the tournament at the Queen Elizabeth Park from 10th – 14th September. Van Gass was quoted for saying that Prince Harry is the driving force behind the entire tournament.
This Friday, some 40,000 tickets for the Invictus Games will go on sale. Tickets will cost £11.75 and will give spectators the chance to see the 400+ servicemen and women from 14 nations compete in nine different events. The British home team will see over 100 competitors, some currently serving and some veteran, from the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
