Prince Harry to visit the Netherlands in July – will the Duchess of Sussex join him?

Dutch media are reporting that Prince Harry will be visiting the Netherlands in late July.

The rumoured trip is to announce the 2020 Invictus Games that will be held in The Hague and Rotterdam over a one week period, according to NOS.

The exact date of the games is yet to be determined and if Prince Harry’s new bride, the Duchess of Sussex will join him on his short trip.

In February, former army general Mart de Kruif made the bid to hold the Invictus Games in Holland.

This years Invictus Games will be held in Sydney, Australia from 20-27 October. Public tickets went on sale yesterday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel down under for the games, after Meghan noted to a competitor during the UK Team trials that she was looking forward to attending the games earlier this year.

It is also expected that Harry and Meghan will make this their first official long distance tour combining it with visits to New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga. Should the Duchess become pregnant before October, Fiji and Tonga would likely be off the list as the Zika virus is still a risk on the islands.

The 2017 Invictus Games were held in Toronto, Canada and is where Meghan made her first appearance at an official with Prince Harry during the tennis match between Australia and New Zealand. She also attended the Opening Ceremony where she sat apart from Harry and the Closing Ceremony where the couple was joined by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and her friends, Markus Anderson and Jessica Mulroney in a private box to watch the festivities.

There has been no announcement of the 2019 Invictus Games. The first games were held in 2014 in London and the following year was taken off so that the 2016 games in Orlando could plan and raise funds.
