Some of the most sparkling lights around Windsor Castle have been given an autumn clean as parts of the famous royal residence prepare to open to the public again.
The Semi-State Rooms at Windsor will welcome visitors from September 30th 2021 and, ahead of that, the sparkling lights in the Crimson Drawing Room have been painstakingly spruced up.
Cleaning work has been carried out on the chandeliers and the candelabra in the room which is among the most richly decorated in the Castle.
The Semi-State Rooms were designed as private apartments for George IV and are now used by the Royal Family for official entertaining.

The Crimson Drawing Room was damaged in the fire at the Castle in 1992 and restored afterwards. Among the items hit by the blaze was the chandelier which was first hung in the room in 1939 on the orders of Queen Mary. Following the fire, it was largely rebuilt with modern glass.
The Semi-State Rooms are open to the public every year between September and March, with admission included in the entry price to the Castle. Windsor Castle is open from Thursday to Monday every week, from 10am.
