The Queen ‘shocked and worried’ after lady-in-waiting suffers a nasty fall

Her Majesty The Queen was left ‘shocked and worried’ after she witnessed one of her most senior ladies-in-waiting take a nasty fall at Balmoral Castle a few days ago. The Honourable Mary Morrison, Woman of the Bedchamber, was admitted to the hospital after the incident.

According to the Daily Mail, The Queen’s right-hand lady was accompanying Her Majesty to a cocktail party at Balmoral when she fell down a flight of stairs, only missing The Queen by inches. Ms Morrision was immediately taken to the hospital in Aberdeen where the doctors found she had broken her ankle.

Ms Morisson insisted, however, on returning to Balmoral as soon as possible to continue her duties as a lady-in-waiting. The Queen’s most trusted aide is now walking on crutches as she remains with the Monarch during the last weeks of her summer holiday.

A Lady-in-waiting’s jobs mainly consist of helping their mistress collect flowers at events, attending private and personal matters, running errands and handling general correspondence.

Mary Morrison is a close friend of The Queen and has been serving the Monarch since 1960. Mary has been made Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, the highest order of chivalry that Her Majesty awards personally to those that have served The Queen in a special way. However, Mary is known to prefer to use the title she inherited from her father – The Honourable Mary Morisson.

In 2010 Ms Morisson was involved in another accident in which she bruised her ribcage. She was driving her car on her way into work at Windsor Castle when her car got stuck on rising metal bollards. The accident damaged her car, but she escaped with only minor bruises.
