
Two of The Queen’s close friends, Lord and Lady Vestey, have died within weeks of each other.
Lord Vestey, formerly Her Majesty’s Master of the Horse, died at the age of 79 it was announced on Thursday.
Just a few weeks prior, Lady Vestey died ‘suddenly but peacefully’ at the age of 71.
The couple had been married for 40 years had three children together. Lord Vestey is also survived by two children from a previous marriage.
Lord and Lady Vestey formed an integral part of The Queen’s racing circles.
Lord Vestey sat opposite The Queen in the Royal Ascot carriage procession
Between 1999 and 2018, Lord Vestey served as Master of the Horse to the Sovereign meaning he managed the royal stables and The Queen’s horses.
He was a regular face at Royal Ascot over the years, often sitting in the coveted spot alongside The Queen during the carriage procession.
