Man arrested at Buckingham Palace has been released

The man who was arrested at Buckingham PalaceĀ on suspicion of possessing a firearm has now been released.

Scotland Yard confirmed to The Telegraph that the 38 year old man was released without further action. They said that officers were satisfied that the possession of the device was an error, partly being a keyring.

In a statementĀ released as the man was arrested, a Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called at 12:47hrs on Sunday, 23 September to a report of a man detained by security staff at the visitor entrance to Buckingham Palace. ”

Police added the arrest was not terror-related.

The Queen and members of The Royal Family are currently on their summer break, with Her Majesty and Prince Philip staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Buckingham Palace never commented on the situation.
