First major events of The Queen’s autumn revealed

Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen will oversee the opening of new sessions of both the Scottish and Welsh parliaments in the coming weeks as she begins to increase her public engagements.

The visits to the Scottish Parliament and the Senedd are part of a string of duties lined up for the Monarch over the coming months.

Her Majesty will also attend a reception for the COP26 Summit in Scotland and host a reception at Windsor Castle to mark the Global Investment Summit.

There is also a nod to the year to come as she launches The Queen’s Baton Relay for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with the countdown beginning at Buckingham Palace.

The newly released details of the Queen’s diary also show that she will be accompanied by her family at several of the events. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be with her as she attends the ceremony marking the Sixth Session of the Scottish Parliament. Charles and Camilla, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland, will be at the Monarch’s side for the ceremony on October 2nd.

The Earl of Wessex will accompany his mother to the launch of The Queen’s Baton Relay. The Princess Royal will be with her mother for another event announced today, a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey to mark the Centenary of the Royal British Legion which will take place on October 12th 2021.

The Queen is currently on holiday in Balmoral.
