Cheers! Top chef reveals the special ingredient that dominated Platinum Pudding ideas

Thousands of people have entered the contest to find a pudding fit for The Queen as part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations and one of the judges has revealed many recipes contained one special ingredient – gin.

Top chef, Monica Galetti, told BBC One’s The One Show that the tipple, known to be a favourite among the Royal Family, was the outstanding trend among the entries that flooded in to the contest which is being run by Fortnum and Mason.

Finalists in the contest are now being chosen after entries closed on February 4th 2022. Ultimately, five chefs will be invited to create their pudding at a special bake off where the ultimate Jubilee pudding will be chosen. Monica Galetti will be joined on the judging panel by Dame Mary Berry and Buckingham Palace Head Chef Mark Flanaghan.

The winning recipe will be shared and created across the UK to become an integral part of the Jubilee celebrations.

Whether gin will be included in the winning pudding remains to be seen.
