Charles & Camilla to join The Queen at Windsor so she is not alone over Christmas

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will join The Queen at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day so the monarch is not alone on December 25th.

A spokesperson for Clarence House confirmed Their Royal Highnesses’ festive plans on Thursday morning.

At this stage, it is still unknown whether the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s festive plans are and whether they will join The Queen at Windsor.

Charles and Camilla’s Windsor stay comes after The Queen cancelled her annual visit to the Sandringham Estate due to a sharp spike in Covid-19 infection rates across the UK.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said that Her Majesty’s decision not to visit Sandringham was a personal one that was made after careful consideration reflecting a precautionary approach.

A few days ago, it was revealed that Her Majesty had been forced to cancel her traditional pre-Christmas dinner that she was due to hold at Windsor Castle for members of her extended family.

Her Majesty has always been careful to lead by example, and although there are currently no restrictions in place to prevent her travelling to Sandringham, a precautionary approach has been taken.

As was the case in 2020, The Queen will not be making a public appearance at Church on Christmas Day so as not to encourage crowds to gather in an attempt to get a glimpse of the monarch.

Two members of the Royal Family who will not be joining Her Majesty at Windsor are the Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence.

This is because Sir Tim has tested positive for coronavirus meaning the couple are isolating at Gatcombe Park.
