Last year, Nadiya Hussain captured the public’s hearts as she won the popular prime time bakery show, The Great British Bake Off. Now the Queen of Baking will meet The Queen herself, as the 31-year-old has been commissioned to make Her Majesty’s 90th birthday cake.

Speaking on on ITV’s Loose Women, Nadiya revealed all about what promises to be a mouthwatering cake.
She says it will be “very citrusy” after remarking that she wanted to make the cake “a little bit different.”
When Nadiya told her excited family that she was going to be making a cake for the Queen, there appeared to be some confusion over whether she meant Her Majesty or Mary Berry.
She said: “When I told the kids [the news], the boys were great at keeping it a secret. I told my daughter and she said, ‘Oh Mary Berry? You’ve made lots of cakes for Mary Berry.”
Despite making cakes in front of 13 million people on television, Nadiya has admitted that she is very nervous about this particular one.
She said: “Sometimes I just want to drown it out because how often do you get to say the Queen’s birthday cake?
“I’m so nervous to even look at the oven right now!”
The cake will be delivered personally by Nadiya to the Queen at Windsor Castle next Thursday on the day of her 90th birthday.
Nadiya shot to fame in 2015 when she won the Great British Bake Off and has since been in the celebrity spotlight. She now has her own cookery book, is a TV reporter for The One Show, and has signed a publishing deal to write a children’s book.
