Princess Anne’s latest appearance takes her back to hospital – for a very good reason

Princess Anne has returned to hospital but for a safer reason this time.

The Princess Royal officially opened Worcestershire Hospital’s new Accident and Emergency department on Friday. She unveiled a plaque celebrating the new unit and commemorating the day, toured the new facilities, and met with staff members to discuss what they do and what their days look like.

The £35 million project helped to expand the existing A and E, giving several units more space, and establishing a larger paediatric care area with its own separate entrance.

Princess Anne took time to speak with different units and took a specific interest in the planning process and particular needs of the department.

In the last week of June, The Princess Royal was rushed to Southmead Hospital after suffering a head injury on her property, Gatcombe Estate. Buckingham Palace shared that Anne had suffered concussion and she spent five days in the hospital before being allowed to return home. Medics said her injuries were consistent with being kicked by a horse.

Understandably, the Princess Royal has taken some time away from engagements as she recuperates. Her first engagement back was earlier in July when she visited the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College.
