Princess Anne and Sophie join King Charles and Queen Camilla for special Buckingham Palace reception

The Princess Royal and the Countess of Wessex Duchess of Edinburgh on a visit to Cumbria

The King and Queen have hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to thank some of those involved in the final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.

People who played a part in the lying in state and funeral of Her Late Majesty were welcomed by Their Majesties to a special reception.

The Princess Royal and the Duchess of Edinburgh joined King Charles and Queen Camilla to express their own gratitude to those involved.

As well as being a reflection on a sad time in the lives of the Royal Family, there was also a focus on the future as some of those who took part in the Coronation were also thanked at the reception.

Among those seen chatting to His Majesty was Penny Morduant who famously carried the Sword throughout the ceremony and became one of the unexpected stars of the event.

The reception came just a day after King Charles and Queen Camilla attended an event in the City of London to mark their Coronation.
