Prince Harry to play the role of best man this August

Prince Harry will attend yet another wedding this year, however, this time around he will play the part of the best man.

The newlywed will support his close friend Charlie van Straubenzee by being his best man in his wedding to the filmmaker Daisy Jenks in Surrey this August.

News of the wedding means that Harry and Meghan will now be attending at least two more weddings this year, with Princess Eugenie’s on 12 October following van Straubenzee’s.

Charlie and Harry formed a bond during their early days at Ludgrove Prep School in Wokingham, Berkshire and their friendship has been well documented over the years with the pair being photographed together on several occasions including the rugby world cup in 2015.

Thomas van Straubenzee, Charlie’s older brother is also close to both Prince Harry and William, with Thomas being Princess Charlotte’s godfather.

Charlie and Thomas are believed to have been ushers at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

It is understood that Charlie joined William in a toast to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the evening reception of the royal wedding at Frogmore House with a playful speech which teased Harry about his ginger hair and complimented Meghan for making Harry so happy.

Charlie’s speech went on to become quite emotional as he went on to say how proud he was of the way Prince Harry had handled Princess Diana’s death as a 12-year-old boy.

One guest said: “He described how awful it had been for Harry to go through everything and how proud all Harry’s friends are of how he has come through it.

“He told Harry how happy his mother would have been that he has found love with Meghan and how excited she would be to see them starting their lives together as a married couple.

“Harry was pretty emotional at that point.”
