Police investigate video message threatening to ‘assassinate The Queen’

Police are investigating a video which appears to show a man with a crossbow threatening to assassinate The Queen.

The material is believed to be linked to the incident at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day in which a man was detained after being found inside the grounds, carrying a crossbow.

The video clip was obtained by The Sun newspaper and shows a masked person, in a dark hoodie style jacket, holding a crossbow and saying they planned to ”assassinate The Queen” in a ”revenge” attack.

The Metropolitan Police said ”“Following the man’s arrest, detectives are assessing the contents of a video.” Buckingham Palace has made no comment.

Just after 8.30am on Christmas Day, a 19 year old man from Southampton was detained in the grounds of Windsor Castle. He was later sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
