A tearful Countess of Wessex says that “The Queen has been amazing”

The Countess of Wessex tearfully told the media that “The Queen has been amazing” in light of the death of her husband of 73 years.

Prince Edward and Sophie drove through crowds in Windsor after they paid a visit to the grieving monarch.

As they departed the town, the Countess made the remarks to a Sky News reporter through her car window.

The Duke of Edinburgh died earlier that morning aged 99.

He had recently spent a month in hospital where he was being treated for a pre-existing heart condition and an infection.

The UK has entered a period of mourning which will last until Prince Philip’s funeral which will take place in approximately one weeks time.

The royal household and British government have urged people not to gather outside of royal residences to leave flowers, and are instead asked to make a donation to charity.
