Lady Gabriella Kingston undertakes important duty as she represents British royals at the funeral of Constantine II

Lady Gabriella Kingston, the daughter of Prince & Princess Michael of Kent, was chosen by The Royal Family to represent them at the funeral of Constantine II of Greece.

Lady Gabriella, who is 55th-in-line to the throne, arrived in Athens for the funeral.

She was goddaughter to King Constantine, the former King of Greece, who died last week at the age of 82.

The 41-year-old was officially representing the Prince of Wales, who was also godchild to Constantine, but was unable to attend himself.

She was joined at the funeral by The Princess Royal who was Britain’s representative.

Royals from across Europe gathered in sombreness at the former monarch’s passing.

Queen Margrethe of Denmark and her family, including the Crown Prince and Prince Joachim, made the journey.

Also present was King Willem-Alexander & Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, King Felipe & Queen Letizia of Spain, and King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium.

Although now a republic, Greece’s royal household remains an important part in European circles, not least because of the many relations they have with other families.

Constantine’s sister is Queen Sofia of Spain, who alongside King Juan Carlos, attended the funeral.

Queen Margrethe of Denmark is also sister to Queen Anne Marie, Constantine’s widow.
