Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses at Buckingham Palace for Coronation Reception

King Charles hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace for foreign royals and world leaders on the eve of his coronation, joined by members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The King was spotted joking with European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as well as Monaco’s Prince Albert and Princess Charlene and Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia.

The Prince of Wales was spotted chatting with King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida of Thailand.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales was spotted chatting with US First Lady Dr Jill Biden and her granddaughter, representing America.

She was also photographed chatting with Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.

Catherine also posed for a photograph with Dr Jill Biden and Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska. The Ukrainian First Lady posted on Twitter, “I was honored to speak to the Princess of Wales @KensingtonRoyal and the First Lady of ?? Jill Biden @FLOTUS at the official reception for the coronation of His Majesty Charles the III. A real pleasure to meet these exquisite ladies with open hearts and the great friends of [Ukraine].”

Many guests who attended the evening reception will also represent their countries at tomorrow’s coronation. In some cases, the younger royals were given a chance to shine.

Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant, attended the reception alongside her father, King Philippe. Her mother, Queen Mathilde, will attend the coronation with the King.

Princesses Beatrix and Catharina-Amalia represented the Netherlands at the reception, while King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will attend the coronation.

King Carl XVI Gustaf was accompanied by his heir, Crown Princess Victoria, and both will attend tomorrow’s coronation.

Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit represented the Norwegian Royal Family and will attend tomorrow’s coronation.

Monaco’s Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the reception and will attend the coronation tomorrow.

The palace reception was the last event on the King’s schedule after a day of hosting Commonwealth Realm leaders and a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Queen Camilla was absent from all receptions.

The King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales also attended a final rehearsal at Westminster Abbey.
