King Charles III

The King is presented with the Scottish crown jewels at ceremony in Edinburgh

King Charles III has been presented with the Honours of Scotland during a ceremony in Edinburgh to mark His Majesty’ coronation.

Accompanied by Queen Camilla and the Duke & Duchess of Rothesay, The King attended the Service of Thanksgiving at St Giles’ Cathedral where he received the crown and sceptre.

His Majesty was also presented with the Elizabeth Sword – a new item specially made for the ceremony, as the original sword is too fragile to be used.

Olympic gold medalist, Dame Katherine Grainger, presented the Elizabeth Sword to King Charles III.

Meanwhile, Lady Dorrian, the Lord Justice Clerk, presented the Sceptre whilst the Duke of Hamilton presented the Crown of Scotland to His Majesty.

After the service came to an and, Their Majesties travelled back to the Palace of Holyroodhouse where they observed a flypast from the Red Arrows.
