King Charles shares training tips with Olympic and Paralympic stars

It has been an exciting week for 2024 Olympians and Paralympians who have been welcomed to Buckingham Palace by The King to celebrate their achievements this summer in Paris.

On Thursday, 7 November, King Charles welcomed TeamGB’s Olympians and Paralympians who won bronze, silver, and gold medals to the Palace for a reception.

The Princess Royal, who is a member of the International Olympic Committee, joined The King.

Queen Camilla was unable to attend as she continued to recover from a chest infection.

Team GB’s Paralympics stars won a total of 124 medals at the 2024 games, including 44 golds. The Olympics team took home 65 medals, with 14 golds among the tally.

Despite their huge successes, The King was ready to share some training tips with them as many of the stars looked ahead to the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

His Majesty gave them some insight into his own “training” regime, sharing with the women’s athletics team that he does the same exercise regiment as Prince Philip. Developed by the Canadian Air Force, the 5BX is an eleven minute group of five exercises.

The King was also able to chat with Dame Sarah Storey about her place on Dancing on Ice in 2025.
