A night of classical music for King Charles as he marks anniversary

The King has attended a special concert marking an anniversary for one of Britain’s most famous orchestras.

King Charles enjoyed an evening of classical music to celebrate 120 years of the London Symphony Orchestra.

The performance, at the Guildhall in the City of London, included recitals of the overture of Rossini’s ‘The Barber of Seville’ and Puccini’s ‘Crisantemi’ for String Orchestra, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano.

After the performance, The King met Sir Antonio, Chief Conductor for the LSO, as well as Dame Kathryn McDowell, Managing Director of the LSO.

The performance also celebrated the cultural ties between London and the city of Genoa with the Italian ambassador to the UK, later chatting to King Charles.

It’s one of the last UK based engagements for The King before he heads to Australia and Samoa for a tour and the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting.
