These are the princes and princess who were at the private party hosted by King Charles at Windsor for devoted royal

King Charles hosted a private party at Windsor Castle for one of the most devoted members of the Royal Family.

The King, along with Queen Camilla, hosted a special reception at the castle to mark the 90th birthday of the Duke of Kent.

The event stayed private until after it had finished with first mention of the party appearing in the Court Circular.

Under the date of October 29 2025, the official record of royal events noted that ”The King and Queen this evening gave a Reception at Windsor Castle in honour of The Duke of Kent’s Ninetieth Birthday.”

And it listed some of the guests there with the presence of the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence recorded. The Duke of Gloucester was also there as were the Duke of Kent’s siblings, Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

The Court Circular usually records the presence of working royals although Prince Michael and Sir Tim aren’t usually on that list, despite Princess Anne’s husband taking on a number of engagements for the Royal Family.

As such, it’s expected the guest list was actually more extensive. The Duke of Kent’s three children are all expected to have been there. The Earl of St. Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor and Lord Nicholas Windsor are most likely to have been accompanied by their children at the event.

It comes just over a month after a much sadder family event. On September 16, the Duke of Kent led his family at the funeral of his wife of 64 years. The Duchess of Kent died on September 4 2025 at the age of 92.

The Duke of Kent has been carrying out royal engagements for decades and is the longest serving royal duke in history.

He was born on October 9 1935, the elder son of George and Marina, Duke and Duchess of Kent. He inherited the title in August 1942, at the age of six, when his father was killed in a plane crash during World War Two.

King Charles is understood to have a deep respect for the Duke who was a constant companion to his cousin, Queen Elizabeth II, at public engagements in the last years of her reign.
