King Charles and Queen Camilla’s busy diary of receptions in days leading up to the Coronation

King Charles and Queen Camilla will host a series of receptions for overseas leaders in the days before the Coronation.

The King has a series of meetings with Prime Ministers. On May 2nd he grants an audience to the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, before a video call with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. His Majesty is King of both Australia and Canada.

King Charles and Queen Camilla also attend a special reception at Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster where they will meet members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords as well as the Speakers of both Houses.

On May 3rd, King Charles holds an audience with the new Prime Minister of New Zealand, Chris Hipkins, the first person appointed to lead a government in one of the Realms since the accession.

The first garden party of the reign of King Charles III also takes place on May 3rd at Buckingham Palace.

On May 4th, The King will meet Canadian Indigenous Leaders. Chief Roseanne Archibald, Natan Obed and Natalie Caron will hold an audience with Charles III at Buckingham Palace.

This will be followed by an audience between King Charles and The King of the Ashanti’s, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

In the evening, the Princess Royal will attend a Dinner for the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association in London.

King Charles III will receive a crown for the first time that week when he holds an audience with Amazonian Indigenous Leaders, Uyunkar Domingo Peas and Atossa Soltani. During their meeting at Buckingham Palace, they will present King Charles with a feathered crown in recognition of his commitment to protecting the rainforest.

On the eve of the Coronation, May 5th, His Majesty will be joined by working members of the Royal Family for a series of receptions. They will attend a special lunch at Buckingham Palace for Realm Governors General and Prime Ministers.

Later that day, King Charles, Head of the Commonwealth, will attend a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Marlborough House in London.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will attend a reception for Small Island Developing States held at Lancaster House, London.

Finally, with just hours to go until he becomes the fortieth Monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey since 1066, Charles III will be joined by working members of the Royal Family for a reception at Buckingham Palace for overseas guests at the Coronation.

The Coronation takes place on May 6th 2023 at Westminster Abbey.
