It’s 50 days until the Coronation of King Charles III

There are just 50 days to go until the Coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey.

His Majesty will be crowned on May 6th 2023 by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Queen Camilla will be crowned at the same ceremony.

Their Majesties will travel to the Abbey on the morning of May 6th in the Gold State Coach in The King’s Procession. Following the service, they will return to Buckingham Palace in The Coronation Procession with other members of the Royal Family. There will be a balcony appearance soon afterwards.

On May 7th 2023, thousands of street parties will take place across the UK for the Coronation Big Lunch. Packs to help organise celebrations are already available while local councils are managing street closures for the event.

On the evening of May 7th, the Coronation Concert takes place at Windsor Castle. The ballot for tickets is closed and winners will be contacted by organisers. As night falls on May 7th, buildings and landmarks around the UK will be illuminated to mark the Coronation.

The final day of the long weekend of celebrations is the Big Help Out which takes place on May 8th, a special Bank Holiday for the Coronation. The day marks the contribution of volunteers across the UK as well as the lifetime of service of King Charles III.

The final countdown to the Coronation is under way – 50 days and counting.
