<![CDATA[The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to
visit Sydney and Canberra when they travel to Australia in April,
according to incoming governor-general Peter Cosgrove.
The new representative for the monarch in Australia attended a
lunch with The Queen at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters after meeting, the former defence chief let
slip where William and Kate are to visit and that their son, Prince
George, will be travelling with them.
"They'll bring with them Prince George the little one," he
explained.
“They’ll be in Sydney and then in
Canberra after their sojourn in New Zealand.”
However, appearing to backtrack on whether it was official the
couple would be taking George with them, Peter said: “I don’t
know yet, I’m not yet the governor-general.”
He added: “I think every Aussie who likes the idea of royal couples
having their children with them on tour will hope that’s the case,
but let’s wait and see.”
In December, it was announced the Duke and Duchess would be
visiting Australia and New Zealand in April, in what is expected to
be a near month-long tour, with the couple to spending around ten
days in each country.
At the time, the palace said it was “anticipated” William and Kate
would travel down under with their son, but a decision would be
made in “due course” about George’s attendance.
Last night, Kensington Palace explained the program for the tour
would be announced in “due course” although it is expected new
details will be confirmed in the next fortnight.
General Cosgrove will become the 26th governor-general when sworn
in on March 28.]]>
