Kate Garraway shares Duchess of Cambridge’s kindness at carol service

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has spoken about the Duchess of Cambridge’s kindness toward her family and the care she put into her ‘Together at Christmas’ carol service at Westminster Abbey last week.

In an exclusive interview with Hello!, Garraway said that Kate “had taken wonderful care and personally chosen all the readings, which had such a thoughtful theme of love and kindness.

“Both she and Prince William were kind enough to ask after Derek and the children, and as I was also lucky to be able to bring my [son] William with me, so he got the chance to see them too.”

Garraway said that the carol service was a “wonderful and emotional way to celebrate the start of Christmas.”

Garraway has used her platform over the past 19 months to advocate for her husband, Derek, who contracted COVID-19 in March 2020 and has been under constant care ever since. He spent a period of time in the hospital in an induced coma while his body fought the complications from the virus, and though he’s now at home, he still requires constant care.

In her autobiography, she wrote that an unnamed member of the Royal Family sent her a letter “offering the services of a royal physician. How lovely, I thought, although it seemed utterly surreal.”

Though she declined to name the royal in the book, at the 2021 Prince’s Trust Awards, she said to the Prince of Wales, “And you might not remember, but you were very kind to me because my husband got very sick with COVID after the last Prince’s Trust Awards.

“You wrote to me and gave me help, so thank you very much, and he did improve.”

The Duchess of Cambridge’s Christmas carol service, Together at Christmas, will air on ITV on Christmas Eve at 7:30 pm.
