Duchess of Cambridge reveals Princess Charlotte rules the Cambridge household

Today, the Royal Family was heavily represented at the unveiling of a plaque for the Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial. Among them were The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Harry, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of York, the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. After the ceremony, the royals mingled and spoke with active and former military members. During a conversation with the wife of a Royal Marine commander, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed Princess Charlotte rules the roost in the Cambridge household.

Catherine spoke with Samantha Burge, wife of Warrant Officer Class 2 Chris Burge. “She said that Charlotte is growing up really fast. She is the one in charge.

“We have both got 2-year-olds,” she explained. “And they are ruling the roost. It was a bit of a mummy chat,” said Samantha.

She added: “I wanted a mummy talk. I wanted to talk about something else than [war].”

She is the mother of Isabella, age four, and Amelia, who is 22-months-old; both girls are similar in age to the little royals. Samantha also revealed that: “She said they are both becoming really good friends,” Samantha said, referring to George and Charlotte.

In the few times the world has seen the two little royals, it’s clear that Princess Charlotte is the one in charge. This was evident at the playdate in the gardens of Government House during the Canadian Royal Tour last year. During the party, Charlotte was seen popping balloons, petting animals, and running around.

The Duchess has revealed little bits of information about her children with Prince William in casual conversations during official events. Last year at the opening of the gardens at Hampton Court, she told a little girl that her family not only has a dog named Lupo, but they also have a hamster named Marvin. She said that Charlotte loves when Marvin’s whiskers tickle her cheek. As a result of learning of Marvin’s existence, the Royal Hamster has become very popular on social media, attending royal events dressed like The Duchess and usually wearing a tiara as depicted by artist Christine Frazier.
