Princess Anne and Family

Who attended Lena Tindall’s Christening?

A sleepy village in Gloucestershire has played host to The Royal Family as the nineteenth-in-line to the throne was Christened.

Lena Tindall, Zara & Mike Tindall’s youngest child, was Christened on Saturday in a small and private ceremony in Cherington, Gloucestershire.

Some members of The Royal Family attended, but others were absent from proceedings.

The sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II, braved the weather to attend the ceremony. This may come as a surprise to some as she was absent from Prince Louis of Cambridge’s Christening last year.

The Queen wasn’t joined by her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, who at 97-years-old has retired from public life and now only attends very few events, even private and family ones.

Also missing from the ceremony was the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall who jetted off to St Lucia on the same day to begin their Caribbean tour.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also missing from the service. He and the Duchess had a weekend of prior engagements, including the St Patrick’s Day Parade and Six Nations.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did attend, with Zara and Mike making Prince Harry a godfather to Lena.

Lena’s grandparents, the Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips also attended the event which was held in the same church where Isla and Savannah Phillips were Christened.

Lena was born on 18th June 2018 at the Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire.

She weighed 9lb 3oz making her the heaviest royal baby to be born in over 100 years. The previous record holder was Prince Louis of Cambridge who weighed 8lbs and 6oz when he was born in April.

Lena is the second child for Zara and Mike Tindall who are also parents to five-year-old Mia Tindall.

She is the seventh great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip and 19th in line to the throne.
