Attending on behalf of his grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, a very dapper looking Prince Harry arrived at the Royal Variety Performance telling ITV executives “Jack Whitehall makes me nervous.”
Jack, the youngest host of the show at only 27, sung Harry’s praises saying that he is one of his heroes including “He may only be a prince but when it comes to banter all hail the king.”
Although Jack had no problem diving into the teasing, touching on everything from his red hair to a love of clubbing and all-night drinking all on the bill.
Upon opening the show Jack told the audience that “It’s a tremendous honour to be hosting the Royal Variety Performance…Having been lucky enough to perform for Prince Charles and Prince William in previous years I look forward to the opportunity of sailing a little too close to the wind in the presence of Prince Harry this time round.”
The evening was filled with performances from Kylie Minogue, Sir Elton John and One Direction who were joined by former X Factor contestants Little Mix. Ricky Martin, Josh Groban and Beverly Knight also performed.
After the show, Harry took the time to meet with all the entertainers, joking around with most.
When coming across One Direction band member, Harry Styles, the Prince asked him “When was the last time you had a haircut?”
The band admitted to being nervous to meet Prince Harry, wondering what they should call him.
After the less than stressful meeting, Styles was asked if he would consider cutting his hair now that the Prince had questioned him, he laughed it off saying: “I’m not planning on it right now.”
Adding on: “At some point I’ll be cutting it for charity.” But would never think of growing a beard like Prince Harry’s.
The 2015 Royal Variety Performance will air on ITV in December. Each year the event is held in aid of the Royal Variety Charity whose patron is Queen Elizabeth. The money raised goes to helping those from the entertainment in need of assistance and care.
