The Duke of Edinburgh has been given a special honour by The King to mark his 60th birthday.
Prince Edward is appointed to the Order of the Thistle, the highest order of chivalry in Scotland.
His Royal Highness is one of four appointments to the order which are made on the sole discretion of The King.
The others are Baroness Black of Strome, Baroness Kennedy of the Shaws and Sir Geoff Palmer,
They will all be installed in a ceremony expected to take place later this summer.
As he turned 60, it was also announced that Prince Edward has been appointed as the Lord High Commissioner to the 2024 General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in May. The Lord High Commissioner is the Sovereign’s personal representative to the General Assembly.
The Duke of Edinburgh is also seen in four brand new photos taken to mark his birthday.
Prince Edward has given an interview to Alan Titchmarsh as the milestone arrives, saying that he still sometimes finds it hard to believe he is the Duke of Edinburgh.
