The Prince of Wales hits the beach in Cornwall on busy day in Duchy

The Duke of Cornwall looked to be in good spirits when meeting locals in his Duchy during a sunny trip to the south west.

Prince William began his day in Cornwall by visiting a housing project at Nansledan, a Newquay suburb. The project is set to build 24 homes on duchy land to help people experiencing homelessness. The Prince has long made helping those experiencing homelessness a priority, and many of his existing patronages and roles are with organisations who aim to help. 

The Duke had an active afternoon in Cornwall where he joined in a casual beach volleyball game on Fistral Beach in Newquay. He joined members of a local lifesaving club and chatted with the teens about the water and their day on the beach. A crowd gathered to watch the heir to throne take part with many cheering him on. 

After the game, The Duke then met with members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charity providing vital services including lifeboat search and rescue, lifeguards, water safety education and flood rescue. The RNLI is celebrating a landmark anniversary, as it was founded 200 years ago in 1824.  The Duke of Kent recently attended

Prince William became Duke of Cornwall upon his father’s ascension to the throne in September 2022. The Duchy of Cornwall is one of two royal duchies in England and the heir to the English throne has held the title for centuries.
