Queen Mary had to shoo away an unwelcome guest as she greeted the crowds at Sæby Harbour this morning.
The Danish queen had been shaking hands with townspeople who’d showed up to greet the royal couple on the first day of their summer tour around the country when a wasp startled her.
In a video captured by TV2 Nord, Queen Mary jokes with the crowd: “I need to stay away from that one. Something bad happened last time.”

Just over a month ago, as the Danish Royal Family moved residence to Grasten for the summer, Queen Mary was outside waving to the crowds when she suddenly had to be rushed inside.
It was later revealed that a wasp had stung her thigh, prompting her to leave the welcoming ceremony briefly. She later rejoined the family—her husband, King Frederik, and two children Princess Isabella and Prince Vincent were also on hand—and continued on greeting the crowds.
This week, King Frederik and Queen Mary are undertaking their annual summer tour of Denmark aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog. The royal couple are spending a day in four municipalities around the northern part of the country, including Frederikshavn, Thisted, Læsø, and Samsø.
