Queen Camilla gave a nod to Australia in the outfit she chose for the first official engagement of her trip to the country.

The Queen chose the country’s colours of green and gold for a visit to church.

Queen Camilla wore one of her favourite coat dresses for the occasion. The pale green version, featuring textured cuffs, is by Anna Valentine.

The gold came in the form of a straw hat with a wide, upturned brim, made by Lock & Co.

Her Majesty chose a loose three strand pearl choker with pearl earrings to complete the outfit, worn as she attended Sunday service at St. Thomas’ Church, Sydney.

Green and gold were formally adopted as Australia’s national colours in 1984 but they had been popular symbols for over a century before that. The gold represents the country’s beaches and mineral wealth while the green is for the forests and eucalyptus which mark Australia’s natural environment.

Queen Camilla had made another special nod to the country as she arrived in Sydney ahead of the official start of the visit . The Queen wore the Wattle Brooch as she was welcomed to Australia.

The jewel, made of yellow and white diamonds, is shaped as a wattle flower, the national bloom of Australia. It was given to Queen Elizabeth II in 1954 when she became the first reigning Monarch to visit during her rule.
