Prince William set to ban Prince Andrew from his coronation as heir to throne plans tougher line

Prince William will ban Prince Andrew from his coronation according to reports that indicate the heir to the throne wants an even tougher line taken on his errant uncle.

The Sunday Times, in an exclusive, says that the Prince of Wales will bar Andrew from all parts of royal life in the future as he remains deeply concerned about the damage that his uncle poses to the reputation of the Monarchy.

That means no place for Andrew at royal events like a future coronation as well as at ‘private’ family celebrations including Christmas and Easter.

William and Kate were noticeable absent from this year’s royal gathering at Windsor for Easter while Prince Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, made a public arrival with other members of the family at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor.

That is unlikely to happen again in the reign of King Charles and today’s reports indicate that William wants neither of them anywhere near royal events in the future.

It comes after Prince Andrew gave up the use of his royal titles – he was made Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh by Queen Elizabeth II in 1986 when he married Sarah Ferguson.

Fergie has also relinquished her title and reverted to her maiden name. She had been known as Sarah, Duchess of York since her divorce from Andrew in 1996.

Prince Andrew also said he was giving up all his honours including his membership of the Order of the Garter, the oldest and most prestigious order of chivalry in the country.

However, he technically retains the Dukedom of York and his other titles. They will only become extinct on his death and for The King to remove them now would require an Act of Parliament.

It’s also been reported that Prince William took a leading role in the latest move to get Prince Andrew to renounce his titles. In the past few weeks, new details about Andrew’s friendship with convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, have come to light.

That includes correspondence in which Andrew said they were ”in this together”. An email sent by Sarah Ferguson to Epstein in which she apologised for publicly disowning him has also been revealed.

A posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre, in which she detailed how she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew as a 17 year old, is set to be published. He continues to deny all allegations against him.

The Royal Family is getting back to daily duties after the surprise announcement on October 17 that Andrew was giving up his titles. Queen Camilla attended racing at Ascot just hours later and appeared relaxed and happy as she was joined by other members of the family, including Zara Tindall.
