King and Queen of Norway at important parade as controversy hits their royal family

King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway were joined by their son, Crown Prince Haakon, on the balcony of the Royal Palace to review His Majesty’s The King’s Guard.

The 3rd Guard Company completed drills and performed music for the review while crowds gathered to watch the ceremony.

King Harald and Queen Sonja have had a quiet summer while they watched the Olympics from home while Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit were in Paris for the second week of the Paris games.

The three Norwegian royals looked composed on the balcony and to be enjoying themselves during a difficult time for the family.

Crown Princess Mette Marit’s son from a former relationship, Marius Borg Høiby, was charged in early August with assaulting a woman. He later admitted that he was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.

Princess Märtha Louise, the King and Queen of Norway’s elder child, is due to get married on 31 August. She is engaged to shaman and businessman Durek Verrett, a controversial figure. During their relationship, there have been many questions as to whether or not the princess was using her royal connections to further business ventures.
