King Charles spent a ‘restful’ weekend at Highgrove following a brief period of hospitalisation, and is prepared to return to work this week according to Buckingham Palace.
The Palace provided a brief update on the King’s health, relaying that after spending a restful weekend at Highgrove, he will be back to royal duties, albeit with some events shuffled around to keep a gentle pace, before he and Queen Camilla depart for Italy next week on their State Visit to the country.
King Charles sparked a frenzy on Thursday evening with the news that he’d had temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment that required brief hospital observation.
In a statement shared late Thursday, the Palace revealed that “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, the King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.”
Afterwards, following medical advice, the King returned to Clarence House and postponed his planned day in Birmingham on Friday.
Next week, King Charles and Queen Camilla will undertake a State Visit to Italy and also celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. They had been due to visit Pope Francis at the Vatican City as well, however due to the Pope’s recent health scare, that visit has been postponed in order to give Pope Francis time to recuperate.
