The President of France was full of charm as he landed in the UK, kissing the hand of the Princess of Wales as she met him from his plane at the start of his historic State Visit.
Emmanuel Macron touched down at RAF Northolt with his wife, Brigitte, for a three day visit that will cement ties between the UK and France.
An unexpected kiss for a princess
The French President was first greeted by the Prince of Wales with whom he shared a long chat. At one point, the French President put his arm around Prince William’s arm as the two chatted.
The heir to the throne then introduced his wife with Emmanuel Macron immediately taking her hand and bowing low. He then kissed the Princess’ hand.

After the introductions, the Prince of Wales and President Macron walked through a guard of honour with the Princess of Wales and Mrs Macron behind them.
The four travelled by car from RAF Northolt to Home Park in Windsor where King Charles and Queen Camilla offered the official welcome to formally get the State Visit under way.

The King and the President inspected a Guard of Honour and both national anthems were played before a carriage procession to Windsor Castle.
